Handpiece - Dental Simulator

Support

Updated

Handpiece: Dental Simulator is an iPad and iPhone app for tooth identification and preclinical cavity and crown preparation.

Email support

In the app, Settings › Support adds your app and device versions to the email.

Requirements

An iPad running iPadOS 26 or later, or an iPhone running iOS 26 or later. Preparations, restorations and exams are built for iPad and Apple Pencil; Apple Pencil Pro adds the squeeze-to-run foot pedal and haptic feedback in the Pencil. On iPhone they run in a limited way, on finger controls, and the haptics play through the phone.

Cutting without an Apple Pencil

On iPhone, or on an iPad with no Pencil paired, a finger on the tooth cuts using the on-screen tilt and pressure controls, and a finger beside the tooth orbits the view. Two fingers pan and zoom. On iPhone you feel the DEJ crossing, pulp proximity and contacts through the phone; Settings › Haptics turns them off.

The handpiece will not run

On iPad, if Settings › Apple Pencil maps the squeeze to the foot pedal, squeeze Apple Pencil Pro (or hold the on-screen pedal) to run the bur. On iPhone, Settings › Finger cutting sets whether a touch on the tooth runs the bur or the on-screen pedal does. With the finger-rest rule on, keep one finger resting on the screen while you cut.

Benchmarks and percentiles

Percentiles appear once at least 10 attempts exist for an exercise and mode. Offline attempts are queued and compared when the device is back online. Very short attempts and attempts from builds that are out of date are not benchmarked.

Resetting your data

Settings › Reset data deletes your attempts, exam history and anatomy progress from this device and starts a new anonymous install identifier.

Performance

The simulator renders at up to 120 Hz and lowers its frame rate automatically in Low Power Mode or when the device is hot. Settings › Graphics quality trades detail for speed on older devices.
